WOHAD Partners with Thistle Farms National Network

Sister Organizations Working Together to Help Survivors of Trauma and Abuse

[Spring, TX, March 8, 2021] – Women of Honor & Destiny, TLC, Inc. (WOHAD) celebrates the beginning of a partnership with Thistle Farms National Network (TFNN). Both organizations share goals of helping women who have survived abuse and trauma. WOHAD’s specific goals are to help justice involved women overcome the trauma of incarceration to heal and reenter the community. Thistle Farms helps survivors of trauma from abuse, prostitution, or trafficking. The partnership with TFNN opens access to programs and services to the women whom WOHAD serves.

“We are excited to forge this partnership as we commemorate International Women’s Day.” Janice Freel, Founder & CEO of WOHAD.

WOHAD began as the dream of founder, Janice Freel to help women who have been involved in the justice system. Her early experiences showed her the trauma and hardship that women face after being confined. Programs are designed to help women reacclimate to life in a transitional facility where they have a safe environment. Similarly, Thistle Farms provides housing, case management, healthcare, counseling, and education. Each year approximately 1.8 million women across the country are released from a local, state, or federal facility. There are more transitional housing facilities for men than women. WOHAD seeks to change that fact.

“In the spirit of International Women’s Day, we are proud to work with Thistle Farms to lift up women,” Laura Kelchner, WOHAD Board Member.
